I am looking for anyone who was in a group going from Pearl Harbor to the Kwajalein Islands on 1-26-1945. I have a One Dollar bill that was signed by the group and would love to give it to someone who was in this group or hear some stories about it. Some of the names on the dollar are: R.C. Barnett Master Sergent U.S.M.C.
R.O. Evans, A.N. Van Deusen, L.J. Manbury, Harold Segal, William Donnell, J.E. Hayer (s?), R. Stephans Jr., O. Jennings, R. Baines. There are 16 names total, but some of them I can't read very well. It also has the latitude and longitude written on the dollar. Please e-mail me at mona111@msn.com. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My grandfather, Corporal Edmund Zitkus was part of VMB-613 as a photographer. My sister recently told me about this website, so I checked it out and I just wanted to thank you guys.

Keeping this history alive is very important, especially to me since I lost my grandfather when I was rather young and didn't have a chance to know this side of him... One day I will show my grandkids what my grandfather did during one of our nations toughest times.

Thanks for all the good work and keep it up!
M. Brady

This is a great site. I have enjoyed looking at it very much. Thanks for all the effort put into it.

I am working on a history of the Newport Air Field and would like to communicate with men or women stationed there (or their families) who might tell me stories of when they were there. I'd particularly like to know about interaction with the town, social life, etc.

In addition, the town is working to honor those who were stationed at Newport with a small museum and other recognition at the airfield.

Thanks to anyone who can help me in my project. Moreover, thanks for your service during the war.

What a wonderful website. I really appreciate the extent of information and how very well it was put together. My father, Donald C. McCune Sr. was a member of this unit as a first lieutenent in air intelligence. I am also a Marine who was proud to serve in the same tradition as my father, which is a link we will always share. If anyone would like to call my father he is at 814 445 8939 and would love to hear from anyone in the unit. He just turned 92 years old and is in good health and remembers the past in much better detail than even the present. Unfortunately, he has some trouble traveling now, but the VMB 613 reunions were always top on his list over the years as a destination. I again want to thank the author of this website and say I'm so proud of those who served in the war. Donald. C. McCune Jr A Proud Marine
