Hello Marine,
Great site to remember your father's service and those of other Marines in this squadron. I am the webmaster of the Gray Ghost Squadron site. I have dedicated this to my fellow Marines and former members of VMF-531/VMF(AW)-531/VMFA-531 squadrons. I'll place a Link on my site to your site. Semper Fi!

Robert,

I am the daughter of 1st Lt. Robert S. Ligon, a VMB-613 pilot.

Dad passed away on September 7th, 2004 and shortly after, I decided to create an Internet memorial as a tribute to his life.

In the process, I found your wonderful website.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate what you have done.

Like so many of his generation, my father never discussed his war experiences - at least not with me, anyway. I knew nothing about his service in WWII.

The amazingly detailed text and excellent photographs you have gathered on www.vmb-613.com gave me a better understanding of what he experienced as a young Marine aviator.

Thank you again for the tremendous amount of time, effort and the financial sacrifice you have made to preserve this valuable piece of history.

Sincerely,

Brooke Ligon

Robert,

I have watched this site progress for several months now. Your skills as webmaster have continued to excel. The long, long hours you have put into creating this site are extremely visible, as is your heartfelt caring.

Your research and knowledge of VMB-613 will not be found elsewhere.

It is also extremely obvious that your goal of perfection is being met.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my tour of VMB-613, and look forward to future additions.

SEMPER FI, my friend!

Diane
