The top floor of
these barracks on Kwajalein served as quarters for Master Technical
Sergeants and Technical Sergeants, while laundry facilities were on the
first floor. Due to the hot climate, the barracks always had areas
open to the weather. Drinking water had to be distilled and was
stored in canvas containers that were placed in convenient locations
throughout the squadron area.
