Seen with a group of pilots in his class, Captain Harold F. Beal Jr. (Front Row, Right)  joined VMB-613 on Kwajalein in June of 1945.  Following Major O'Reilly's departure from VMB-613 at the end of July, Captain Beal assumed duties as the squadron operations officer.  Note that the PBJ in the background appears to be in a natural metal finish.  Photographic evidence indicates that late in the war, some PBJs used stateside for training were stripped entirely of paint.
