Although never used operationally,
all versions of the PBJ-1 were equipped to carry the Mark 13 aerial
torpedo. Due to its length of 13.5 feet, it had to be carried
externally with the bomb bay doors open. With a diameter of 22.4
inches and a weight of 2,216 pounds, it had a range of 6,300 yards, and
could run at a speed of 33.5 knots. The warhead consisted of 600
pounds of HBX. |
